Professor William Barnabas Qurix is an accomplished academic and University administrator, with over 30 years of teaching and research experience in the university system. He holds a Master of Science degree and a PhD in Architecture which he obtained in 1987 and 1997 respectively from Ahmadu Bello University.
In 2001, he obtained an M.A. degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos. Professionally, he is highly rated among his colleagues. Thus in 2003, he was elected to the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, where he served up to 2007 and in 2010, he was appointed to the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria, representing Kaduna State. In 2012, he was inducted Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and in 2015, he was nominated for the Robert Mathew Prize of the Commonwealth Association of Architects as the Nigerian nominee, although the prize was eventually won by another Architect.
Professor Qurix has considerable experience in professorial practice as evidenced in the design of many buildings since 1988. He has an outstanding record of public service; in 2009, he was appointed Member of the Think Tank on Education in Kaduna State. In 2009 – 2011, he served as Chairman of, the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority. Between 2010 – 2011 he served as Honourable Commissioner of Works and Transport, and in 2012 – 2017; he was Vice–Chancellor, of Kaduna State University during which the University witnessed unquantifiable growth and development.
Professor Qurix has attended many Continuous Education programmes on Leadership, Change Management and Project Management in the UK, USA, France, Italy, Turkey, Israel, UAE, South Africa, Egypt, and Ethiopia. He has delivered several public lectures on a diverse topics such as Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Educational development. He is a visiting scholar at the Nigerian Defence Academy and an offshore thesis supervisor at the University of Wolverhampton.
Professor Qurix is a Fellow of many Institutions such as the Nigerian Institute of Architects, the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants and the Institute of Public Administration and Managers.
He is currently Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University Karu. Professor Qurix is a recipient of the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) since 2014.
